BIF #12 - 2011 BA Secret Santa Dec 5-19

A. Package Requirements:

1. BEER: Minimum 144 oz of beer, no maximum... be as generous as you like. Please do your best to focus on quality over quantity. Do some research to find out as much about what your target likes and also what things are already available to him / her.

2. GIFT: A beer related gift, it should be something of reasonable value ($15-$25), not something that is typically given away by breweries as a freebie. T-shirts, glassware, and other schwag from breweries local to you would be most appropriate. Alternatively, if you are crafty, something beer related hand made by you is also appropriate.

3. TREATS: Christmas candy or treats, again either purchased or something you make yourself are both appropriate.

---+---

---+---

C. Schedule
Necessarily compressed from what I originally proposed... sorry.

1. SIGNUP: 1 week, from now until Midnight, Wednesday November 16. I may accept a few more experienced traders for a few day beyond that, but anyone new who might potentially be classified "provisional" should sign up by this deadline.

2. SHOPPING: I expect to have targets assigned sometime by the weekend after signup ends. The shopping window is from as soon as you get your target (should be no later than Sunday November 20) until Sunday December 4

4. REGULAR SHIPPING: The shipping window for all other participants will be Monday December 5 through Monday December 19. If you are shipping across the continent, please do not wait until the 19th.

---+---

---+---
---+---

F. Facebook
As promised, there is a Facebook group for sharing of haul photos and any other comments regarding the BIF. Search Facebook for the group "BA Secret Santa 2011" and send a request to join the group. Alternatively, tell me what email address you have associated with your Facebook account and I will try to find you to add you. The Facebook group will remained closed only to BA Secret Santa participants, so only other participants will be able to see anything you post.

I think that about covers everything, lets get this show on the road!

Yeah that's fair. The Apple Ale will be just over $10 a 4 pack, so that's pretty close. You got yourself a deal!

I probably won't be able to get around to picking them up until this weekend (busy time of year). Will you be able to have the bottles by the weekend (if not, totally cool)?

Should I just send you a PM once I pick them up and we can exchange info?

BIF #10 Growlers Plus Bif Round 2

NBO: Growler Plus BIF - Round 2

Round 1 is done and there were some awesome boxes shipped, with growlers from Hill Farmstead, COAST, Town Hall, Cigar City, Ithaca, and many others. We’re getting ready for Round 2 and I’m looking for a few more BA’s, particularly some west of the Mississippi, to get in on the action.

The Rules for Round 2 will be: Two Breweries One Box: 128oz total, 64 oz growler. Pick two breweries and everything in the box is going to be from one of those two breweries.

Target Ship Date: 11/7/11

BIF #9 - Locals Only

NBO - Locals Only

OK folks, this is the chosen group for the Locals Only BIF. It's a sizeable group of participants, but I think I've got the target list set - remember, try to stay with beers from your home state, or a bordering state, that have limited distribution.

I need everyone's shipping info, shirt size and any preferences you may have regarding the swag item(s). Once I get the info, I'll start BM'ing everyone with their target's info.
*The shipping window is the week of Oct 24th, let's try to have the packages arrive before Halloween.
I'll attach the requirements below, please shoot me a BM if you have any questions at all.

Let's really kill this one guys. Cheers!
Carl

Minimum Requirements:
*shotgun style BIF,
*100 oz of beer minimum, at least 5 different beers (not breweries) Growlers are fine, just be sure to ship them fresh and pack well.
*at least half your oz must come from seasonals or limited releases
*must include local brewery swag, t-shirts are acceptable, nice glassware is gladly accepted as well. Let's say a minimum of $15 worth of swag, so a t-shirt or some glassware and other trinkets. That way we're all on a level playing field with the swag.Again, make it something you'd be happy to own and I'm sure the other party will be pleased.

Remember these are just "minimums", feel free to ship whatever amount of beer or swag makes you happy. Let the karma flow forth and it will flow back to you..

Bif #7 - Telephone BIF -

Hi all,

This is the group for the first Telephone Game BIF. Here are how I envision things working. I'll send out a box the week of September 17th. I'm going to wait until then because I want to grab some things that I have been cellaring in my in-laws basement. I'm going to ship 4 bottles and a glass (pint glasses are ok as long as they are cool) to the first lucky person. They will keep 2 bottles and the glass, and then add two bottles and a glass and then send on a box to the target I give them.

- I used a random number generator to assign targets. I switched two people after the fact so no one is getting a box from someone too close to them.

- Let's say that the minimum dollar amount per bottle is $12. I'm going to put in bottles that ranged from $15 to $30 a piece, just to give you an idea.

- Each bottle should be a bomber or larger.

- When you get the box, pick your two bottles and enter the beers and your username in the notebook that I include. This will be a log of what people have received.

- For fun, let's say that there are no repeats. Say I include a 2010 Darkness (this isn't a beer I'm including, just an example). No one else can use 2010 Darkness as long as this BIF exists. Different years count as different beers though (so a 2011 Darkness would be fine).

Bif #8 - NOOB Round 6

NBO: N00B BIF Round 6 - Signups until October 2nd

The rules for this round:
144 ounce minimum (at least 2 large format bottles)
*300 ounces maximum*
at least one piece of swag
wants if you can, top 100 if you can

Shipping window: October 17-30

If you're new to the trade scene you'll need to find a sponsor. That is, an active BA who is willing to help you throughout the process and will take responsibility for you sending out your box. If you need a sponsor, please post in this thread.

If you're willing to sponsor a N00B please keep up good contact with them. Remember: sponsorship should not be taken lightly. If the person you're sponsoring flakes you'll be sending out a box in their place!

New this round: I'll have section leaders overseeing small groups. As a section leader all you need to do is keep tabs on 10-20 BAs and update me every week or so. This will save me from having to communicate with as many as 100 BAs individually!

Bif # 6 - The Other - September 26-October 3

Your target: wscaffe
His shirt size: XL
Her shirt size: Large
Beers for Sig Other (If they have a BA account with wants
list, give their user name)

favorite beer(s): She loves any beer that involves chocolate or coffee. 90 minute is one of her favorite beers. She also really enjoys Stone's Cali-Belgique. Sorry if this does not help much. I will try to think of some more styles of beers she enjoys.

Favorite brewery(ies): She doesn't really have one. I would love any beers from Three Floyds, Deschutes, Russian River, Brasserie Cantillon and pretty much anything that I can't get in Florida.

favorite style(s): I think the styles she would enjoy most are RIS, Stouts, DIPA, and IPA.

Hobbies/Interests: As far as hobbies go we go to Total Wine a lot. It is a massive liquor store that carries all sorts of beer. We both would greatly appreciate a gift certificate from a place like that. Also there are local restaurants and brewpubs like Seven Bridges, Brewer's Pizza, Bold City Brewery, Intuition Ale Works, and Green Room Brewery that we really enjoy. We are both into gardening as well. Hope this helps.

Remember the rules:
-100 oz minimum (split between him/her if possible but not required)
-1 shirt for him 1 shirt for her (any other swag considered extra)
-Hobby/Extras - Max $25

Shipping window: September 26-October 3

Keep in mind that "favorite beers" listed may be distributed to your targets area and may be used only as a reference point. Refer to NickD717's spreadsheet to check distribution and try to send beer that is not distributed to your target's area.

 https://spreadsheets.google.com/cc ... l=en#gid=1

If you have any questions or need suggestions for hobbies/extras feel free to send me a message and I can either help you or contact the target for some additional information.

Good luck to everyone! Keep me posted if you are having any issues!

Cheers!
-Keith

BIF # 5 - NBO: Ein Prosit! ~ Oktoberfest! (Sept 8-17th)

NBO: Ein Prosit! ~ Oktoberfest!

I have checked to see if one of these has been done before, and I did not see one so I thought what the heck, I have wanted to start a BIF for a while anyway.

So the rules…

100oz Minimum

4 Oktoberfest/Pumpkin beers
The rest, is up to you.

Shipping dates are September 8th through the 17th. Please have all beer in your targets hands by the 17th, the start of Oktoberfest!

Swag is not required, but if you want to include something, please make it a stein, beer mug or other large beer glass. If you have no local brewery or do not have access to one, I have had great luck getting some at antique shops; you can find some pretty cool ones. Heck we all drink out of used glasses at the bar.

For those who are new to BIFs, I will check references. If you have been on awhile, I still may check. Let’s make this a fun BIF! I will leave this open for a bit would like to get 20 or so involved. Either send me a BM or post in this thread.

Oktoberfest is the best time of year...Raise your glass...
